Wealdstone FC appoint Dean Brennan as manager
Wealdstone Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Dean Brennan as first team manager on a two-year contract. Dean will be joined at the club by assistant and former Wealdstone player Stuart Maynard.
Dean will be well known to Stones fans having managed Hemel Hempstead for over 300 games leading them to the Southern League title in 2014 and reaching the National League South play-offs in season 2017/18. Dean had a short career in the football league with Sheffield Wednesday and Luton Town and played for a number of local non-league clubs before moving into management at just 29 years of age.
Despite being only 38 years old, Dean has extensive experience at this level, a wealth of contacts in the game and a reputation for building teams that play attractive football.
Since leaving Hemel Hempstead Town in September 2018, Dean and Stuart have had short spells at both Billericay Town and Kingstonian last season.
Upon joining the club Dean said, “We can’t wait to get started, there’s so much potential at this club and there’s a clear desire and determination to be successful. The players we’ve retained provide an excellent starting point to build a competitive team that the club and its supporters can be proud of.”
Club Chairman Rory Fitzgerald said of the appointment, “We undertook a thorough and extensive process and Dean and Stuart came across incredibly well, they spoke extremely highly of the club, commenting on the times they had faced us in the past and of the passionate support we enjoy. Crucially, they impressed the Board with their tactical, strategic and detailed approach to footballing matters with an infectious enthusiasm that is aligned to the Board in our joint ambition to take the club forward.”
The club will be running a meet the manager session at Ruislip Social Club on Wednesday 22nd May at 7.30pm where supporters will get a chance to welcome Dean and his management team to the club and ask questions as we continue to build for next season.
Whilst we appreciate that this is short notice, we hope to see as many supporters as possible take this opportunity to come down to the club to welcome Dean and his management team.
