Deon Woodman joins from QPR
Wealdstone Football Club Secures Loan Signing of Defender Deon Woodman from QPR
Wealdstone Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of defender Deon Woodman on an initial one-month loan from Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR), with the option to extend the agreement until the end of the season. This move bolsters the Stones' defensive options as we continue our campaign in the National League.
Deon Woodman, an exceptionally talented defender, began his career in the youth ranks of QPR, where he quickly established himself as a player of considerable promise. Through his time with QPR, Woodman has gained valuable experience both in training with the first team and as captain of their development squad. His development was further enhanced by a previous loan spell at Dulwich Hamlet, where he demonstrated his versatility and reliability in the back line.
Woodman's strengths lie in his robust defensive capabilities, including aerial dominance standing at 6 foot 5 inches tall, his tackling, and an innate ability to read the game, which enables him to make crucial interceptions. His agility and pace also allow him to effectively deal with fast-paced forwards, making him a formidable presence in the defence.
The Stones are excited to have Woodman, who will wear the number 4 shirt, join the squad and he will be available for selection for the upcoming derby against local rivals Barnet on Saturday.
“We are thrilled to welcome Deon to Wealdstone," said Stones manager David Noble. "His addition to our squad adds depth and quality to our defensive options. We believe Deon's experience and attributes will be invaluable to us, and we look forward to integrating him into the team.”
The deal is subject to the usual FA and League clearances.
