Former captain Cox joins management team

Wealdstone Football Club is delighted to announce the addition of former captain Sam Cox, to our management team as the new First Team Coach. Sam will also take the role in a full-time capacity from the start of next season. He joins new manager David Noble and new Assistant Manger Neil Banfield who replace Stuart Maynard, Matt Saunders and Craig Saunders after their departure to Notts County.

Cox brings exceptional coaching talent and experience to the Stones, holding the prestigious UEFA A Licence, which he has been putting into practice while developing young talents at the Tottenham Hotspur Academy. A former graduate of the Spurs academy himself, Cox has nearly 350 career appearances to his name, an impressive record that includes 80 appearances in the Stones colours between 2016 and 2019.

He is also an international footballer for Guyana, their captain with 32 caps to his name and also their Assistant Manager.

Wealdstone FC Chairman Rory Fitzgerald expressed his excitement about the club's latest addition, saying, "We are thrilled to welcome Sam Cox back to Wealdstone Football Club in his new capacity as First Team Coach. Sam's experience, both as a player and as a coach, is exceptional. His time with us as a player was marked by his passion and commitment to our club, and we are confident that he will bring the same dedication to his coaching role as part our new management team."
