MATCH REPORT | Bedfont & Feltham 2-1 Wealdstone
A youthful Wealdstone side knocked out of the Middlesex Charity Cup 2nd Round 2-1 late on by Bedfont & Feltham at The Orchard.
Ira Jackson put the Stones ahead in the second half before the visitors were reduced to 10-men late on when Nathan Baker was sent off for a second yellow. Yellows subs Kieran Brown and Cyril Ocansey won the match in the dying embers to send the hosts through.
Academy Manager Kenny Mutsanya stuck to his young players, with eight academy lads included in the starting line-up along with first teamers Alfie Marigliani, Tecane Shrowder and Jackson.
And it was Marigliani who was called into action just 90 seconds into the game after Jon-Jo Bates' cross evaded everyone and almost crept in but for the keeper tipping the effort onto the crossbar.
In a quiet first half it was the Yellows striker Ryan Lloyd who was the main threat, but he put two headers wide from close range in the 18th and 19th minutes.
Stones best chance of the half fell to Fioriah Enyoudou Ada when Jackson sprayed the ball wide to him, he cut inside, beat Shadrach Williams and shot but it was well held by Sam Bersey in the Yellows goal just before half time.
In a game that lacked cutting edge it was nearly a spectacular own goal that put the Stones ahead, Ramarrio Francis played a long back pass to Bersey in goal but completely missed the keeper and just went wide of the post 10 minutes into the second half.
Yellows sub Zachary Scott saw an effort on 72 minutes crash off the crossbar, after his 20-yard effort got a crucial deflection off of Shrowder.
It was always going to take a moment of quality to take the lead and Enyoudou Ada put in a perfect cross to the far post where Jackson was lurking to nod it in.
Stones had upped the tempo and almost went two ahead minutes later when Bersey made a great double stop first to prevent Jackson and then Fawaz Babalola.
The Stones went down to ten men late on when Nathan Baker was sent off for a second bookable offence and the home side took complete advantage.
Yellows sub Ocansey's cross was barely cleared to fellow sub Brown and he smashed an effort past Marigliani to equalise on 89 minutes.
Stoppage time proved to be a frantic affair with Jackson almost grabbing a winner for Wealdstone after some good link-up play with Shrowder, but his effort rolled just wide of the post when one-on-one.
And the hosts won it late on when Kildane Tesfu's cross was flicked in by Ocansey past Marigliani to send the Yellows into the next round.
Stones are back in league action this weekend when they travel to south east London to face Bromley on Saturday at 3pm.
