Mendy sold to Boreham Wood

After 89 appearances and 19 goals over the past two seasons, Jacob Mendy has reluctantly been sold to National League club Boreham Wood for an undisclosed fee.

With no desire or need for the Stones to sell the talented defender, Mendy's release clause was triggered by Boreham Wood and one other National League club, eventually opting to move to Meadow Park.

The Gambian-born Spanish defender finished the season as the Stones' top scorer and Player of the Season with 10 goals in 44 games, including epic strikes in the Stones' first National League wins over Wrexham and Chesterfield.

The former Atletico Madrid youngster joined the Stones from Carshalton Athletic in the summer of 2018, helping the Stones win the National League South title in his first season and playing such a pivotal role in or first campaign back at the top tier of non-league football in 2020/21.

We wish Jacob every success at his new club, thank him for his service to Wealdstone FC and he will be assured of a warm welcome back at The Vale in future.
