NEIL GIBSON NAMED NATIONAL LEAGUE MANAGER OF THE WEEK

After a season-defining set of results, Stones manager Neil Gibson has been named Vanarama National League Manager of the Week!

Sat one place behind the visitors, last Tuesday’s fixture at Grosvenor Vale against Boston United was a must win for the Stones.

An early goal from Alex Reid had Gibson’s side ahead, but the job was far from done. Boston piled on the pressure for the remaining 70 minutes, with the Stones calling upon goalkeeper Dante Baptiste, a notable inclusion in Gibson’s lineup, to keep them ahead and seal three points.

Next up was the visit of high-flying Forest Green Rovers. Steve Cotterill’s side sat third in the table, so it was always going to be a tough test at the Vale.

Jordon Garrick had the visitors ahead after 20 minutes, but the Stones held strong, waiting for opportunities of their own.

Alex Reid had the Stones level just before the break from the spot, before sealing his brace with just eight minutes to play, his 20th goal of the season in all competitions.

With six crucial points gathered across the week, the Stones currently sit five points above the drop, with just five games remaining.
