THE CONTEXT
Wealdstone host a Boreham Wood side with lofty ambitions. Luke Garrard’s Wood side missed out on the play-offs last season after playing catch up following an extraordinary FA Cup run that saw them take on Everton at Goodison Park. And the Hertfordshire side added extra quality to their side in the summer. Jack Payne, Erico Sousa and Dion Kelly-Evans were just some of the additions made by Garrard, with top scorer Lee Ndlovu joining from Brackley Town. Former Stones Dennon Lewis and Connor Stevens are also at the Wood, with Lewis in particular impressing, featuring in 11 matches so far. The Wood sit sixth, three points clear of the Stones.
ONE TO WATCH
Top scorer Lee Ndlovu has five goals in ten games for the Wood since his move from Brackley, where he scored 82 goals in 255 games in the National League North. An aerial and physical presence, Ndlovu has responded well after being sent off against Southend United in the first game of the season.
WHAT WAS SAID?
Stuart Maynard: “Boreham Wood are very good, they’re near the top for a reason, Luke’s a top manager, they’ve recruited very well in the summer, so it’s going to be a tough test."
Luke Garrard: "We’ll have to just count the numbers on Thursday as best we can, and we’ll just have to bounce back against Wealdstone who are a fantastic side, I believe they are going to be in and around it as well."
