Preview - Maidenhead United (A) - Saturday 19th October
Wealdstone are back in FA Cup action this weekend as the Stones visit National League Maidenhead United in the Fourth Qualifying Round on Saturday afternoon.
The Stones have picked up positive form again after winning their last two and will look to cause a cup upset to progress to the First Round Proper.
Stones Manager Dean Brennan: “The competition brings out the best in everybody so hopefully we’re on the right end of the result this weekend.”
York Road has not been a fortress for Maidenhead United in the National League this season, despite a strong start – the Magpies have won just one league game at home so far.
Alan Devonshire’s Maidenhead will still be a dangerous outfit, even if their recent form and record does not back-up that statement.
The Magpies are an established National League club with two consecutive First Round appearances that they will look to extend this weekend.
Brennan on Saturday’s opponents: “Dev’s [Alan Devonshire] are physical and very well organised, we’re going to have to be at our best to get something out of the game.”
“Hopefully we can create our own good luck and we keep playing how we have been” were the views of Brennan as “in the cup, it’s all about the result.”
The Stones will have midfield arsenal available for selection after last Saturday’s league win at Chelmsford City, with powerhouse Connor Smith back from suspension.
There is a chance that versatile midfielder Jake Sheppard will also be available to return from injury after over a month on the sidelines.
Winger Reece Beckles-Richards has had his loan at Oxford City extended until November 10th, while striker Dejon Noel-Williams is cup-tied and unavailable.
An on-the-whistle report will be available on the official Wealdstone FC website at full-time on Saturday; you can follow the minute-by-minute action on the official Stones Twitter feed from 3pm.
