Wealdstone fell to defeat at Mill Farm despite a spirited performance under Interim Manager Paul Hughes.
The Stones created a handful of big chances before the Fylde opener, with goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom pulling off numerous big saves to keep the scores level.
A quick breakaway saw the home side set striker Ashley Boatswain up for a tap-in, before Nick Haughton created space to double his side's advantage.
With Matt Taylor departing the club on Thursday to join Solihull Moors as Head Coach, assistant Manager Hughes took charge as interim manager.
A whole host of new names featured in the squad, having been signed in mid-week. Returning for a second spell at the club, Alex Reid returned straight to the starting XI. Joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, 19-year-old goalkeeper Luca Gunter also went straight into the Hughes first XI.
Instant drama kicked off proceedings at Mill Farm when Sam Ashford went down under a heavy challenge in the Fylde area, just two minutes in. Despite adamant protests from the Stones frontline, the referee waved away any claims.
Finding strong opportunities on the break, the home side looked to test the Stones when they found their opportunities. A scramble in the area, 11 minutes in, saw Tyler Roberts with a chance to test new keeper Gunter, but his effort fizzed just wide of the post.
Hughes' side held the majority share of possession in the first period, looking to push the opposition back and break down the home side.
Working the ball around the Fylde area, Josh Grant looked to try his luck after finding a yard of space outside the area, 14 minutes in, which was held by Ben Winterbottom.
The biggest chance of the half came 34 minutes in, when a perfect pass found the run of Ashford, setting him one-on-one onto his favoured left foot. Looking destined to score, Ashford's eventual effort was saved by Fylde keeper Winterbottom, who made himself big to send the ball back into safety.
Again finding their best opportunities on the break, Fylde tested the Stones resolve at every opportunity. Almost finding themselves one-on-on, Anthony Georgiou stood firm to make a brilliant recover challenge, 38 minutes in.
With just two minutes left of the half, the Stones ramped up their efforts to go ahead. A wayward backpass from a Fylde defender won a corner for the away side. Jack Cook looked to fire goal-wards with the ball falling in his path, but Winterbottom held strong once more to deny.
The Stones came out for the second-half with an injection of urgency, looking to find the opener early in the half.
Keeping his side in the game, Fylde keeper Winterbottom was called upon, 50 minutes in, to deny Ashford from point-blank range after a perfect touch from the Stones forward set himself onto his favoured left-foot.
Pushing hard for the first goal, Wealdstone kept the pressure on the Fylde goal. Having scored a well executed left-footed effort against Hartlepool just a week before, Enzio Boldewijn looked to try his luck from an almost identical position, but sent his strike wide.
Unsure how they hadn't taken the lead yet, the Stones continued to push. Mariappa was involved at both around the 60 minute mark, having a header cleared off the line before making a crucial block in-front of the Stones goal, just one minute later.
Despite the dominance from the Stones, Fylde held strong, patiently waiting for their opportunity to pounce. Kevin Phillips side launched a quick break, 67 minutes in, to work a perfect ball into striker Boatswain, who just had to tap home to give his side the lead.
The Stones withstood a spell of Fylde pressure after the goal to then again create a chance of their own, just three minute later. Setting the ball onto his left-foot once again, Georgiou looked to strike at goal, only to be denied by another block from Emeka Obi.
Haughton, who had been kept relatively quiet throughout the previous 80 minutes, was always a danger when given the time and space. Weaving his way onto his left foot, the Fylde no.10 struck a deflected effort past Gunter and into the corner to double the advantage.
The home side would then hold out their lead, damning the Stones to defeat on the road.
Next up, Solihull Moors visit Grosvenor Vale in the National League on Saturday at 3pm.
