Wealdstone produced a dramatic stoppage-time victory over Woking to leapfrog their fellow relegation strugglers to 18th position in the National League table.

A 94th minute strike from super-sub Kallum Cesay sealed all three points for the Stones at Grosvenor Vale, concluding an impressive week for Neil Gibson’s side.

Woking nearly made the perfect start in just the fourth minute of play when Dion Kelly-Evans’ whipped cross was met by the head of Harry Beautyman, but Luca Gunter responded with a superb reflex save.

The Stones were then forced into an early substitution in the 8th minute, when the injured Josh Grant was replaced by Connor McAvoy.

In the 12th minute, the visitors came close to scoring again when the lively Kelly-Evans struck a fierce strike from a tight angle that flew just over the crossbar.

The Cards enjoyed the lion’s share of possession in the early stages; however, the Stones began to find cohesion and settle into the rhythm of the game.

Wealdstone nearly drew first blood in the 38th minute as Tyler Walker latched onto Alex Reid’s through ball, firing a powerful effort on target that had to be parried to safety by Will Jaaskelainen.

On the stroke of half-time, the Stones had another bite of the cherry when Harrison Sohna’s pinpoint free-kick looked destined for the top corner, but Jaaskelainen produced another solid save.

Wealdstone returned from the interval in the same attacking vein that they finished the first-half, with Dom Hutchinson surging forward and stinging the palms of the Woking shot-stopper.

Gibson’s men began to crank up the pressure and were agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock in the 56th minute when McAvoy was twice brilliantly denied by Jaaskelainen from close-range.

Moments later, Enzio Boldewijn nearly provided a breakthrough, rising highest at the far post and directing his header just over the crossbar.

The Stones continued to knock on the door as they looked for an opener, with Reid diverting Alex Dyer’s ball goal-bound in the 77th minute, but the Cards’ custodian was on-hand again to deny Wealdstone’s top scorer.

Two minutes into stoppage time, Ardley’s side could have won the match, but Gunter produced an incredible save from Kelly-Evans to preserve the scoreline.

However, further drama ensued in the 94th minute when Boldewijn slipped through Cesay, who rounded Jaaskelainen and fired home from an acute angle to seal all three points at the death.
