Wealdstone climbed out of the relegation zone with a comfortable win and dominant performance against Dagenham & Redbridge, at Grosvenor Vale.
A Sam Ashford header, along with a Paul Kalambayi own goal, and a penalty from Alex Reid enabled the Stones to cruise past the Daggers and bolster their league position.
Matt Taylor made two changes to the side that were edged by Oldham Athletic last week, with Reid and Jadyn Mundle-Smith returning to the starting line-up.
The Stones crafted the first chance of the match when Reid was released through on goal for a one-on-one with Elliot Justham, but the top scorer’s chip went agonisingly wide.
Dagenham & Redbridge began to find rhythm and nearly profited in the 18th minute as Christian N’Guessan latched onto to ball on the edge of the area and fired narrowly over the crossbar.
The Daggers continued in the ascendancy, and four minutes later, Harry Phipps found space to shoot, but the striker’s shot was straight at Stones Toby Stewart.
However, it was the Stones that took the lead a minute later, as talisman Ashford pounced in the box to head home Mundle-Smith’s pinpoint cross for his seventh goal of the season.
Boosted by the goal, Wealdstone nearly doubled their advantage moments later when Ashford’s lofted cross found Max Kretzschmar, but Stones’ number ten could only nod his effort just wide.
Taylor’s men did not have to wait long to extend their advantage, as five minutes later, Kalambayi diverted Jack Wells-Morrison’s corner past Justham into his own net.
Just before half-time, Wealdstone were close to adding a third through defender Jack Cook, whose header from Wells-Morrison’s corner had to be thwarted by Justham.
Ben Strevens’ side returned from the interval keen to reduce the deficit and were nearly fruitful in the 49th minute when the impressive Dion Pereira fed Ryan Hill with a sublime pass, but Steward was equal to the substitute’s effort.
Despite the Daggers’ attempts to claw their way back into the game, the Stones trebled their lead in the 69th minute when Reid stepped up to coolly fire home his tenth goal of the campaign from the penalty spot, after Kretzschmar had been fouled in the box.
By now, Wealdstone were in complete control, and Reid looked like he had bagged his brace in the 77th minute when he converted past Justham, but the linesman flagged for offside.
Four minutes later, Reid had the ball in the back of the net again; rounding Justham and tapping home; however, the striker was denied a second goal as the offside flag was raised once more.
The Stones return to action on Boxing Day when they travel to York Road to face Maidenhead United, in a 3pm kick-off.
