REPORT | YEOVIL TOWN 1-2 WEALDSTONE

Will Beaman

Neil Gibson earns his first three points as Stones manager with a win against Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

Enzio Boldewijn put the Stones ahead with a guided header into the far corner after 14 minutes.

Finn Cousin-Dawson levelled the score just before the break, powering a header past Luca Gunter from a set-piece.

Josh Grant was on hand to put the Stones ahead once more, flicking a header of his own in from an Anthony Georgiou set-piece.

Gibson made three changes to the side that were dismantled by Gateshead a week ago. The suspended Max Kretzschmar returned to the XI with Micah Obiero also coming into the side. Jack Cook missed the game through suspension after an accumulation of yellow cards whilst Kallum Cesay picked up a knock, ruling him out of the game.

The Stones raced out the blocks quickly. Obiero found space wide and floated a ball into Boldewijn, who couldn't connect sweetly with his header, which nestled into the hands of Aidan Stone.

Five minutes later, the Stones blushes were saved by a crucial last-minute block from Adrian Mariappa. After a mix-up at the back, Kyrell Wilson found himself with just the goal to aim at, but a sliding tackle from Mariappa denied the hosts what looked to be a certain lead.

Having missed a similar chance early on, Boldewijn was not going to make the same mistake again. A perfectly floated ball found the run of the wing-back, who guided his header into the far corner, sending the away fans into raptures in the near corner.

Following on from the goal, it was the home side that looked more likely to get the next goal. Once again, a crucial block on the line from Grant denied the hosts a leveller once more, ten minutes later.

With just one minute left in the half, Yeovil picked up a free-kick in a dangerous crossing position. A whipped ball met the head of Cousin-Dawson, who only had to connect with the header to guide it past Gunter.

The home side started the half strong, creating the fist chance fo the half, three minutes in. Wilson found space around the edge of the area and fired an effort towards goal, which was blocked by Grant.

After winning a dangerous free-kick out wide, Anthony Georgiou whipped a the set-piece into the area, 55 minutes in, for Grant to flick a header into the far corner, scoring his second goal for the club and putting the Stones ahead once more.

The Stones looked to double their advantage just one minute late when Obiero cut inside and but fired his effort straight into the comfortable arms of Stone.

The Stones began to limit the hosts to efforts from range rather than clear cut chances as the game went on. McGurk, who looked dangerous in areas during the game, tried his luck, 67 minutes in, but curled his effort over.

Gibson's side held strong for the remainder of the game, earning three points on the road for just the second time this season.

WEALDSTONE XI: Gunter (GK), McAvoy, Mariappa, Grant, Boldewijn (Hutchinson 46'), Eastmond, Sohna, Georgiou, Kreztschmar, Obiero (Dyer 79'), Reid.
