Wealdstone Football Club can today confirm that forward Sam Ashford has completed a transfer to Woking FC for an undisclosed fee.
Following recent additions to the Stones squad, Sam approached the club expressing concern over potential limitations to his playing opportunities. Despite several constructive discussions over the past week aimed at reassuring him of his role within the squad, Sam reiterated his desire to pursue regular first-team football elsewhere.
Wealdstone FC would like to make it clear that the club did not wish for Sam to leave, however, given the relatively short period remaining on his contract and his strong preference for a move, the club reluctantly agreed to his request once suitable terms could be agreed with Woking FC.
Sam made 28 National League appearances for the Stones and scored 7 goals. We sincerely thank him for his hard work, professionalism and contribution during his time at The Vale and wish him every success in his future footballing career.
