Stones sign former Swindon, Birmingham and Swansea City keeper
Wealdstone are thrilled to announce the signing of Archie Matthews as their new first-choice goalkeeper.
The 22-year-old, who has played in League One for Swindon Town, has penned a two-year deal and fills the void created by the expiration of Marcus Dewhurst's short-term deal.
"Archie is a young goalkeeper who is calm, confident, good with his feet and has a very bright future ahead of him," said manager Matt Taylor. "He is very excited to start pre season with the team on Monday. We are extremely pleased to sign him on permanent deal as he fits the profile of a goalkeeper that we were looking for."
The Bath-born stopper has had spells at Birmingham City and Swansea City – and will hope to follow in the footsteps of some very impressive National League gloveman at The Vale in recent years, including Aston Oxborough, Harry Isted, George Wickens, Sam Howes, Jed Ward and Dewhurst.
