Watford Women to play at The Vale

Wealdstone FC is delighted to announce that Grosvenor Vale will be the new home of Watford FC Women's side for this upcoming season.

The announcement follows after a year-long partnership agreement between the Hornets and the Stones which includes Grosvenor Vale playing host to Watford's only open-door pre-season fixture, in preparation for their EFL Championship campaign.

Stones chairman Rory Fitzgerald had this to say: "Hosting women's football is great for the club and deepens our ties with Watford.

"This is an exciting time for the Women's game and these games at Grosvenor Vale will give our supporters and the local community the chance to be part of the growth of the Women's game."

The Stones are happy to play their part in the promotion of women's football, which couldn't come at a better time with the Euro 2022 around the corner. The competition hosted in England this summer will be a fantastic showcase of the immense talent within the Women's game.

Watford will also be providing fans with international talent at Grosvenor Vale next season with Wales leading goal scorer Helen Ward, who recently joined the 100 cap club back in April.

The Golden Girls will be playing the majority of their home games at The Vale marking their departure from Gaywood Park in Kings Langley. Their newfound home is only one of many changes made before the upcoming Women's National League South Campaign.

"We're delighted to secure such great facilities for our first team," said Watford FC Women General Manager Amber Wildgust.

"I know Watford and Wealdstone have established good links over the past few years, so hopefully we can play our part in solidifying a partnership that takes us into the long-term future.

"It'll be a privilege for our squad to play at The Vale. The pitch has a great reputation and that can really help inspire our players for a promotion push!"

The side also finds themselves with a newly appointed Head Coach in Damon Lathrope following a heartbreaking relegation in the dying minutes of their final game last season.

We are excited to welcome the Golden Girls to Grosvenor Vale next season, and wish them all the best in their upcoming campaign!
