WEALDSTONE SIGN NATIONAL LEAGUE PROVEN STRIKER ON LOAN

We are delighted to announce the signing of 29-year-old Oldham Athletic striker Alex Reid on loan!

The towering forward joins the club with a wealth of National League experience under his belt already, having played for six current National League sides, as well as spells for both Wrexham and Stockport County, whilst still in the division.

Birmingham born, Reid began his youth career in the ranks of Aston Villa before signing for League One side Fleetwood Town in 2017, after spells with Walsall, Swedish side Ange IF and Solihull Moors.

Reid would spend the 2017/18 season out on loan in the National League. He began the season with Wrexham, scoring 3 goals in 18 games, before going on loan to Solihull Moors for the rest of the season, scoring four goals in 15 games.

He would then join League Two side Stevenage Town, but only feature 11 times. Whilst at the Boro, Reid would have loan spells at AFC Fylde, Ebbsfleet United and Dagenham & Redbridge, winning the FA Trophy with the Coasters.

The best goalscoring period of the 29-year-olds career would come in 2020 when he joined Stockport County. Part of the side that won promotion to League 2, Reid scored 18 goals in 54 games before going out on loan to the Moors once again.

He spent the start of the 2022/23 season on loan at Solihull Moors, before completing a move to Oldham Athletic in November 2022.

"Alex is a proven goalscorer at this level and we are delighted to bring him in on loan from Oldham," said Matt Taylor.

"At 29 years of age he has lots of experience and from speaking to him I know just how excited he is to score goals for Wealdstone."

Alex Reid takes the no.22 shirt and goes straight into the FA Cup side to face Gosport Borough on Saturday at Grosvenor Vale. Tickets are available HERE.
