Wealdstone Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of England U19 goalkeeper Luca Gunter on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The 19-year-old shot-stopper will join the Stones until the end of the current season, providing a significant boost to our squad as we continue our National League campaign.

Born in Enfield, Gunter began his football journey with Queens Park Rangers before joining Tottenham Hotspur's esteemed academy at the age of 12. His exceptional talent and work ethic saw him quickly rise through the ranks, representing England at youth levels from Under-15 to Under-19, with a call up to the England Under-20 squad (Men's Elite Squad) in October 2024 for internationals against Italy and the Czech Republic.

Gunter has also captained Tottenham’s Under-18 side to a historic double, winning both the Under-17 and Under-18 Premier League Cups.

Last season, he was a key part of the Tottenham Under-21 team that won the Premier League 2 title, starring with a string of excellent saves as they finished first in the table before pushing on to win the play-offs to be crowned overall champions.

Luca’s professional journey began in earnest in March 2022, when he signed his first pro contract with Tottenham shortly after turning 17. He has since continued to impress with his commanding presence, sharp reflexes and leadership skills. Last summer, he made his senior debut for Spurs in pre-season friendlies against Heart of Midlothian and Queens Park Rangers and joined the first-team squad on their tour of Asia. In August 2024 Luca signed a new 5 year contract with Spurs, keeping him at the club until 2029.

Speaking about the loan move, Luca said, “I’m really excited to join Wealdstone and get the opportunity to play regular senior football. This is a fantastic club with great supporters and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success for the rest of the season.” Stones interim Manager Paul Hughes had this to say about our latest signing, "Luca is a very talented young goalkeeper and we’re really pleased to have him onboard. He joins us from Spurs which is a first class academy system. As a management team, we feel he will add real value to the team."

We would like to thank Tottenham Hotspur for their cooperation in facilitating this move and for entrusting us with the next stage of Luca’s development.
